This is what I did to prevent my neck pain and neck stiffness from reoccurring and what I suggest my patients to as well.
Once you have relieved your neck pain by doing the stretches, we need to prevent it from reoccurring again. You know neck pain is very annoying, right? So you don’t want this to happen again. Doing exercises to prevent this from happening again is very important.
In this video we will be doing easy exercises with very minimal movements.
1. Isometric Neck flexion- Please the palm of your hand on your forehead and try to push your head down bring your chin to your chest while your help prevent your head from bending. Do this for 10 to 15 seconds.
2. Isometric neck extension- Play the bottom of your head towards the back of your head Add try to extend your neck or bringing your chin up Towards the ceiling for 10 to 15 seconds
3. Isometric ear to shoulder - Using the palm of your hand, prevent your neck from bending to the side and hold this for 10 to 15 seconds.
4. Isometric head turning - Play the palm of your hand on your cheek and try to turn your head for 10 to 15 seconds holding that position.
5. Isometric chin tucks- try to tuck your chinby moving your head backward but place both hands behind your head to resist that movement. Hold that for 10-15 seconds.
6. Eccentric shoulder shrug- Bring both shoulders towards your ears and then slowly bring it down for about five seconds. This will re-educate your traps from constantly contracting or being activated and teaching it to relax once again.
