While there are no miracle foods to reduce stress, here are 6 foods that do have some specific anti-stress properties.
ð«Blueberries have some of the highest levels of antioxidants and are also rich in vitamin C. They have been linked with sharper cognition, better focus, and a clearer mind â all of which can help you to better deal with stress.
ð«Eating chocolate reduces perceived stress, dark chocolate being especially effective. Chocolate contains flavonols and polyphenols, antioxidants which can help combat stress.
ðBananas are rich in potassium, magnesium, vitamin C, and certain B vitamins, which all help to fight stress.
ð¥Avocados contain B and C vitamins, which help improve your mood. Their magnesium and omega-3 content also gives a great boost.
ð¥Nuts contain tryptophan, an amino acid that can be converted into serotonin, the âfeel goodâ chemical. Diets high in tryptophan result in less depressive symptoms, improved mood, and decreased anxiety.
ðConsuming carbohydrates leads to insulin secretion which increases serotonin release. This feel-good chemical helps you feel calmer and less stressed. It regulates your mood and social behavior, and a lack of serotonin can be linked to depression.
