Some popular chemicals used to treat acne are salicylic acid which is a beta hydroxy acid ( BHA) and glycolic acid which is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA).
You will find them often in cleansers, exfoliation masks, spot treatments, and serums. It’s important to understand that you have to start one at a time and with a lower concentration. You can increase as you see how your skin reacts, and don’t forget acid treatments increase sun sensitivity so be sure to use sunscreen afterwards. A SPF 30 or more and reapply it every two hours… which I kinda knew you were doing anyways right?
If those don’t clear up you can also try benzoyl peroxide. For those approaching 30 and up a retinoid formulation.
