Remedies to reduce the inflammation of arthritis include Cayenne Pepper, Ginger, Cramp Bark, Valerian, Willow Bark, Agrimony, Yellow Dock, Burdock, Celery Seed, Black Cohosh, St. John's Wort and Ash and Nettle for gout - all can be taken as teas or as tinctures. They can also be used as compresses which are laid over the aching and painful joint. Make a strong tea, (infuse for 15-20 minutes or decoct in the case of roots) and soak a cloth such as muslin or a face cloth, wring it out, not too tight, and lay this over the joint. As it dries, dip into the herbal tea and soak and wring and apply again.
Gentle movement such as walking, tai chi, chi gong, yoga or swimming and most important - diet.
Avoid all processed and packaged and fast foods as they are extremely inflammatory. Eat plant foods, especially greens as they are alkalising. A tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and the juice of half a lemon in a mug of warm water is very pleasant and also helps break down acidic particles that cause inflammation in the joints and can help with weight loss over time.
